Flintshire to start frontier investments

18 Nov 2011

The Flintshire County Council pension fund is in discussions about making its first frontier allocations, Mena FM can reveal. The frontier allocation will be valued at approximately 1% of the fund’s £969m ($1.5bn) AUM, according to the fund’s investment manager Debbie Fielder.

Fielder told Mena FM that the pension fund is currently conducting a search for potential frontier managers, but added that it is still open to ideas. The fund already invests up to 20% in emerging markets, and implemented an increase from 4-7% in its active emerging market allocations on 1 April. The remaining
13% is made up of property and private equity investments.

Strategy reviews of its investment portfolio take place trianually and the last one was carried out approximately six months ago.
